About Us
We are a group of concerned environmental scientists. Members of our team sit on the IEC TC111 and ASTM committees. The goal of this group is to create awareness that we are surrounded by consumer products that contain hazardous materials and that alternatives exist that can help make our world a safer place.
We have all become aware of the dangers of Lead Poisoning from recent stories of toys manufactured in China. But danger from hazardous substances come from many other areas as well, including plastics which contain fire-retardants that are as dangerous as lead, but far more widely used.
Toys and consumer products like MP3 players commonly contain Bromines to make them fire-safe, but bromines (based on the chemical element Br) are highly toxic to humans!
However, there are alternatives to Bromines available today. These solutions give you the same fire-safe protection that Bromines are so good at, without the risk of being poisoned! It is our goal to give you some insight on how things can be done differently.
